(Jinath) Thank you all and Good Bye for now Finally this election fever is coming to an end. It was like braving a hurricane. Personally I am very glad as I personally do not have any political ambitions and can leave this madness behind and get in to the normal day to day life. I came forward to do my duty as a friend of Ven. Soma Thero and also to do my duty as a true peace loving moderate Sri Lankan Buddhist who saw that a great danger is looming ahead for the country and the nation. Who saw that apart from the current ethnic misunderstandings, a crisis of a religious misunderstanding is being brewed in the country and many lives are at stake if every one looks the other way. The results are already evident. Up to the time of this writing (1/4/2004 10:30 am, Melbourne EST) there are less violence reported than the previous elections on record. That itself is saving lives. Like the way Soma Thero had shown us by example, I too tried to say things are as it is. He called a spade a spade and spoon a soon and not some thing else. He did it without association of ill feeling or hatred in direct simple manner and many people understood it. While doing it, I tried my best to refrain from mud slinging and personal attacks. But by mistake if I had heart some ones feelings, I do extend my apologies for that, as I never intended such thing and I do not harbor any ill feeling towards any one. I only wanted the best for the people and the country You can bring a horse to the water but you can not make it drink. It is up to the horse whether to drink or not. Thank you all who visited this site/ Now my duty is finished and I am leaving the things in better shape than at the time I came. Now, it is the duty of the people of the country to decide which government is the best for them. So do your duty as you see fit. Once the government was elected, leaving aside your party differences support the what ever government which comes to power, to bring the peace and prosperity to the country. With best regards Lakshman Abeykoon |
