Weaning is an occasion important not only for the child, but it is an important milestone for the parents too. First solid food is given to a child at an auspicious moment. A small ceremony is organised at home for the occasion. For boys, an auspicious time during 6,8,10, (even) months of age from the birth is considered best and for girls, 5,7,9,11 months from the birth are considered the best.
